COME SHARE THE LOVE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

You Are Invited

I am Bishop Todd Bell and along with the community of Saint Matthias, I wish to welcome you and share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with all we come in contact with. Spreading the Good News of salvation and anxiously awaiting His coming in glory!

The Community of Saint Matthias is committed to an inclusive approach, void of barriers between God and His people. Christ ministered to those in need, rather than those who were in “good standing” under the “law”. Christ more often than not was found in the company of the “untouchables”, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind and ministering to forbidden people such as the Samaritan woman.

The Church must minister to people through love and kindness; not fear and heavy handedness. We seek to do this through equality, justice and truth. This is done through strengthening with an understanding of God’s Holy Scriptures, renewal within the Holy Eucharist and an openness to the Holy Spirit as He speaks to and through His people.

“The Saving Power Of God”No matter how hard you try, you cannot save yourself. It is outside of our ability to resolve the weakness of the flesh. The Lord is my light and my salvation, in Him will I trust. Today’s Psalm is a reminder that we are called to a life of service to God, yet that service must begin in the heart, not merely as empty actions that appease those around us. If we come to the Lord with contrite hearts and follow His ways with our lives, He will save us by His mighty power. “To the upright I will show the saving power of God”.“Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you,for your burnt offerings are before me always.I take from your house no bullock,no goats out of your fold.”R. To the upright I will show the saving power of God.“Why do you recite my statutes, and profess my covenant with your mouth,Though you hate disciplineand cast my words behind you?”R. To the upright I will show the saving power of God.“When you do these things, shall I be deaf to it? Or do you think that I am like yourself?I will correct you by drawing them up before your eyes.He that offers praise as a sacrifice glorifies me;and to him that goes the right way I will show the salvation of God.”R. To the upright I will show the saving power of God. ... See MoreSee Less

“Not My Will, But Yours”Sacred Scripture reminds us, from Genesis to Revelation, of our fallen nature. This is not meant to demean us, but rather to help us understand our need for a Savior. If we were to be judged merely on our fleshly decisions and actions, none of us could stand the outcome, yet by the blood of the Cross and power of the Resurrection, we have been redeemed. Today’s Psalm shares this reality with us as we seek not to be dealt with according to our sins, but to be redeemed by the love of our Savior.Remember not against us the iniquities of the past;may your compassion quickly come to us,for we are brought very low.R. Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.Help us, O God our savior, because of the glory of your name;Deliver us and pardon our sinsfor your name’s sake.R. Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.Let the prisoners’ sighing come before you;with your great power free those doomed to death. Then we, your people and the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever;through all generations we will declare your praise.R. Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins. ... See MoreSee Less

“Proper Placement Of Trust”Too many people place their trust in man. The Word of God calls us to place our trust in Jesus Christ and in Him alone. Why are we so surprised when humanity fails us? Let’s be honest, man has failed God in more ways than anyone can count. If we are looking for a place where we can properly place our trust, it is in God alone. Today’s Psalm reminds us of this need to place our undying trust in the Lord. “Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.”Upright is the word of the LORD,and all his works are trustworthy. He loves justice and right;of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full.R. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him, upon those who hope for his kindness,To deliver them from deathand preserve them in spite of famine.R. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.Our soul waits for the LORD,who is our help and our shield.May your kindness, O LORD, be upon uswho have put our hope in you.R. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you. ... See MoreSee Less
