COME SHARE THE LOVE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

You Are Invited

I am Bishop Todd Bell and along with the community of Saint Matthias, I wish to welcome you and share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with all we come in contact with. Spreading the Good News of salvation and anxiously awaiting His coming in glory!

The Community of Saint Matthias is committed to an inclusive approach, void of barriers between God and His people. Christ ministered to those in need, rather than those who were in “good standing” under the “law”. Christ more often than not was found in the company of the “untouchables”, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind and ministering to forbidden people such as the Samaritan woman.

The Church must minister to people through love and kindness; not fear and heavy handedness. We seek to do this through equality, justice and truth. This is done through strengthening with an understanding of God’s Holy Scriptures, renewal within the Holy Eucharist and an openness to the Holy Spirit as He speaks to and through His people.

“Now Hiring”What vocation have you been called to? We have all been called to become labourers in the service of the Lord. In today’s Gospel reading, we find the Lord working miracles and, more specifically, casting out demons. The Pharisees question His motives and power. Jesus continued by proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom and healing those who were sick and in need. He then tells us that the people were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd, and He called us to become labourers who will harvest for the master. Our faith is not one of passivity; rather, it is one of action. We are called to take action on behalf of the Lord. If you are looking for salvation, the Lord is hiring.A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute man spoke. The crowds were amazed and said,“Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”But the Pharisees said,“He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for thembecause they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples,“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;so ask the master of the harvestto send out laborers for his harvest.” ... “God Is Always Good”God always wants what is best for you and me. He doesn’t have good days and bad days. He is not only available some of the time. He is always there, always good, and always merciful. In today’s Psalm, we respond, “The Lord is gracious and merciful”. This is not the cry of our heart; rather, it is the proclamation of our soul. This world is a harsh environment to live in, yet we can know that the Lord understands our journey, He can empathize with our struggles, and we can be made whole in Him. God is good, all the time, and all the time our God is good.Every day will I bless you,and I will praise your name forever and ever.Great is the LORD and highly to be praised;his greatness is unsearchable.R. The Lord is gracious and merciful.Generation after generation praises your worksand proclaims your might. They speak of the splendor of your glorious majestyand tell of your wondrous works.R. The Lord is gracious and merciful. They discourse of the power of your terrible deedsand declare your greatness. They publish the fame of your abundant goodnessand joyfully sing of your justice.R. The Lord is gracious and merciful. The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. The LORD is good to alland compassionate toward all his works.R. The Lord is gracious and merciful. ... See MoreSee Less

“Things Revealed”Are we looking for the coming of the Lord? I do not mean that we are testing the air daily or that we are in some crazy way trying to make it happen, but are we sincerely looking for revelation? Today’s Gospel speaks of things hidden from the wise and learned and that these things are only revealed in and through the Son. If we are seeking revelation, there is only one place to find it. May our hearts seek first the Kingdom of God and all of His righteousness, for in Him we will find rest and revelation. At that time Jesus exclaimed:“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these thingsfrom the wise and the learnedyou have revealed them to little ones.Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Sonand anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,for I am meek and humble of heart;and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” ...
