COME SHARE THE LOVE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

You Are Invited

I am Bishop Todd Bell and along with the community of Saint Matthias, I wish to welcome you and share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with all we come in contact with. Spreading the Good News of salvation and anxiously awaiting His coming in glory!

The Community of Saint Matthias is committed to an inclusive approach, void of barriers between God and His people. Christ ministered to those in need, rather than those who were in “good standing” under the “law”. Christ more often than not was found in the company of the “untouchables”, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind and ministering to forbidden people such as the Samaritan woman.

The Church must minister to people through love and kindness; not fear and heavy handedness. We seek to do this through equality, justice and truth. This is done through strengthening with an understanding of God’s Holy Scriptures, renewal within the Holy Eucharist and an openness to the Holy Spirit as He speaks to and through His people.

“Learning From The Lord”All too often, we lean upon our own understanding when we are called to lean upon the wisdom and leading of the Lord. In today’s Psalm, we are reminded of this as the Psalmist affirms the leadings of the Lord. God’s ways are above our ways, and His thoughts are far greater than our thoughts. May we come to lean on Him first for understanding and wisdom. Remember your mercies, O Lord.Your ways, O LORD, make known to me;teach me your paths,Guide me in your truth and teach me,for you are God my savior.R. Remember your mercies, O Lord.Remember that your compassion, O LORD,and your kindness are from of old.In your kindness remember me,because of your goodness, O LORD.R. Remember your mercies, O Lord.Good and upright is the LORD;thus he shows sinners the way.He guides the humble to justice,he teaches the humble his way.R. Remember your mercies, O Lord. ... “Thirsting For More”Have you ever tasted something that you could not get enough of? That is what experiencing the Lord is like. Once you have truly experienced His presence, love, mercy, and grace, you want to have more of Him. This is at the heart of today’s Psalm. It is a story of loving and longing for the Lord. Our hearts become full when we are with Him, and our soul is refreshed with His life-giving water. May our days be filled with thirsting for the Lord and our lives fulfilled in a life with Him.As the hind longs for the running waters,so my soul longs for you, O God.R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.When shall I go and behold the face of God?Athirst is my soul for God, the living God.When shall I go and behold the face of God?R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.When shall I go and behold the face of God?Send forth your light and your fidelity;they shall lead me onAnd bring me to your holy mountain,to your dwelling-place.R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.When shall I go and behold the face of God?Then will I go in to the altar of God,the God of my gladness and joy; Then will I give you thanks upon the harp,O God, my God!R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.When shall I go and behold the face of God? ... See MoreSee Less

“Hope”Today, on this 3rd Sunday in Lent, we are given encouragement through hope. Hope is not a wish; it is the belief in the promise of God. We are called to be a people set apart, a Royal Priesthood. Our hope does not disappoint because it is based upon the One who is faithful and true. The Lord has promised us good things, and now we have hope in the good things of the Lord. In these trying times, let us not lose heart; let us stand firm on the promises of Jesus Christ. Though others may lose their minds, we as God’s children shall never lose hope.Brothers and sisters:Since we have been justified by faith,we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faithto this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our heartsthrough the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.For Christ, while we were still helpless, died at the appointed time for the ungodly.Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person, though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die.But God proves his love for usin that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. ...
